Reginald Carroll, CNLP

Reggie’s a part-time team member who also happens to be a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (CNLP). This makes him eminently qualified to lend his skills to our fine gardening program. Reggie’s interests include origami and kite flying; he’s also played the clarinet for over 40 years. If this guy looks familiar, it’s because this is his second tour with The English Gardener: he was previously on the EG team back in 2016.

Bill Crowe

Bill is one of the longest-tenured members of The English Gardener crew, having started with the company in 1998. He’s a diehard NASCAR fan, father of two and grandfather of many. He’s a crew leader who’s looked up to by many in the field and known for his quick wit. Bill particularly enjoys teaching the new guys basic and advanced skills and watching them grow into their roles. ates on member profiles

Shane Haxton

As one of our crew leaders, Shane comes to work with a get-it-done attitude every day. He is a skilled and mature mentor to others learning the craft. A dedicated stone worker, one of his jobs has been featured in Unilock’s national sales promotions, a nod to both the design and craftsmanship employed in the clients’ backyard.

Emma Hahn ISA, CNLP

Emma started at the English Gardener in Spring 2020 upon returning to Buffalo after more than a decade away. Emma became enthralled with plants during her early twenties as a fieldhand and educator working on sustainable urban farms. Later, at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, Emma found a deep love of horticulture. She is particularly passionate about shrub and tree care, botanical horticulture, and researching new perspectives and methods. She is a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arborists, a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional of NYS, and holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.

Joseph Han, CNLP

Joseph, our founder, has been creating gardens since childhood with his family and enjoys sharing unique–some might say crazy–designs with clients, and they always enjoy the process of creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Joseph attended Earlham College and the University at Buffalo and is certified as a CNLP. Joseph enjoys art, theater, and music and in particular, living art, and dreams of playing lacrosse and basketball again one day. Joseph’s wife, brother, and sister also enjoy gardening along with the rest of his “family” at The English Gardener.

Gabriel Maldonado

Gabe is a valued member of the English Gardener team, taking great pride in perfecting gardens and hardscapes. Named EG’s “Rookie of the Year” in 2017, Gabe is driven by the opportunity to learn new things and to achieve complete client satisfaction. Always ready to pitch in, he is eager to share his knowledge with new talent joining the team. Gabe’s a hard-working family guy at heart. And like many of us, he loves Western New York’s beautiful summer weather.

Ken Parker, NGICP, CNLP

Ken is our grower and nursery manager and is a passionate indigenous horticulturist and member of the Seneca Nation of Indians. He is a NY State Certified Nursery Landscape Professional (CNLP) and Green Infrastructure Program Trainer. Ken has spent much of his life devoted to growing, installing, teaching and promoting indigenous plants of North America. He has participated in various environmental projects and consults throughout the United States and Canada. He frequently gives talks on native plants and consults with groups throughout North America. When Ken is not busy with plants, he is likely playing saxophone around town or cheering for the Bills.

Cedric Richardson

Cedric has been part of the English Gardener family since 2015. He and his wife Dionne are proud parents and grandparents. A huge fan of football (Go Steelers!), basketball, and pizza, he also plays the drums and lends his support to Buffalo State’s athletic program. On the job, Cedric is known for his timely dependability. If you were to ask him what part of his work he particularly enjoys, he’d say it’s planting and mulching our clients’ gardens—though it’s obvious to the rest of us that he takes pride in accomplishing any assignment he’s given.

Glenn Robertson, CNLP

Glenn has devoted over 2 decades to The English Gardener, managing everyone out in the field and doing so with diplomacy and wit. As if it weren’t enough that he’s always ensuring our clients are satisfied and our crew leaders have the materials and directions they need, he also can be found designing dynamic and creative lighting to offer gardens a spectacular night-time perspective. And from time to time he shows us what a whiz he is at carpentry too, whether it’s in design or execution. Glenn’s active personality doesn’t end at the shop door; he’s also big into sports, bowling, golfing and fishing. He loves making our customers wildly happy with the amazing gardens we build.

Little Al (In memoriam)

Little Al was our carpenter for many, many years and created stunning creations out of wood. From gorgeous hand-hewn fences to pergolas, garden sheds and more, he was a skillful craftsman who made garden hard structures come alive with grace and beauty. Sadly, we lost Little Al in 2013, yet his wooden art remains alive, gracing our clients’ gardens and bringing joy to families across Western New York.

Dianne Turner, CNLP

Dianne came to The English Gardener in early 2022 as Designer, bringing a varied background of design, marketing and management. She also studied permaculture, a design system that mimics nature to restore balance in the environment. Dianne has a lifelong love of gardening, and in 2021 co-founded DeeplyRooted Community Garden in Tonawanda. At EG Dianne designs spectacular outdoor living spaces for clients with a mix of native and ornamental plants. Outside of work, Dianne enjoys travel, Mexican food, music and being at one with nature. In the summer she can be found celebrating warm weather on a canalside patio or hugging a tree deep in the woods.

Pam Turner

Pam is EG’s Office Manager and an avid gardener. She is a writer, musician and Heartfulness meditation trainer. Prior to joining The English Gardener, Pam taught creative writing and technology classes for the Charlotte Mecklenburg library. She also managed a school garden site for 8 years teaching many young gardeners to identify weeds, insects and respect nature.
